3 Crea uno snapshot LVM di /

Ora è il momento di creare lo snapshot del volume /dev/server1/root. Lo chiameremo rootsnapshot:

lvcreate -L10G -s -n rootsnapshot /dev/server1/root

L’output di

lvdisplay

dovrebbe apparire così:

Vogliamo montare /dev/server1/rootsnapshot su /mnt/server1/rootsnapshot, quindi dobbiamo prima creare quella directory:

mkdir -p /mnt/server1/rootsnapshot

Poi montiamo il nostro snapshot:

mount /dev/server1/rootsnapshot /mnt/server1/rootsnapshot

Poi eseguiamo

ls -l /mnt/server1/rootsnapshot/

Questo dovrebbe mostrare tutte le directory e i file che conosciamo dalla nostra partizione /:

Quindi il nostro snapshot è stato creato con successo!

Ora possiamo creare un backup dello snapshot sulla partizione /backups utilizzando la nostra soluzione di backup preferita. Ad esempio, se ti piace fare un backup basato su file, puoi farlo in questo modo:

tar -pczf /backups/root.tar.gz /mnt/server1/rootsnapshot

E se ti piace fare un backup bitwise (cioè un’immagine), puoi farlo in questo modo:

dd if=/dev/server1/rootsnapshot of=/backups/root.dd

server1:~# dd if=/dev/server1/rootsnapshot of=/backups/root.dd
19513344+0 records in

Potresti anche usare entrambi i metodi per essere preparato a qualsiasi cosa possa succedere al tuo volume /dev/server1/root. In questo caso, dovresti avere due backup dopo:

ls -l /backups/

server1:~# ls -l /backups/
total 9947076
drwx—— 2 root root 16384 2007-04-10 21:04 lost+found
-rw-r–r– 1 root root 9990832128 2007-04-10 21:28 root.dd

Dopo, smontiamo e rimuoviamo lo snapshot per evitare che consumi risorse di sistema:

umount /mnt/server1/rootsnapshot
lvremove /dev/server1/rootsnapshot

Questo è tutto, hai appena effettuato il tuo primo backup da uno snapshot LVM.
