As every year, there will also be a new SoC. The Tensor G4 is said to have better thermal management and could be more energy-efficient thanks to Samsung’s new 4nm process node. Yes! Like every year, Google is sticking with Samsung to develop the Tensor G4 for the upcoming Google Pixel. According to a report from Financial News Reports, Google and Samsung are working together on the Tensor G4 and it looks like the SoC will be based on the new FOWLP (Fan-out Wafer Level Packaging) packaging method. The result would be better thermal management and higher efficiency.

Let’s also take a look at the benchmarks of the Tensor G4. 91 Mobiles recently spotted a Google smartphone in the Geekbench 5 database. It bears the codename TOKAY. While it’s not yet confirmed to be an upcoming Pixel 9 series device, it’s very interesting to see because the scores are lower than the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Google Pixel 8.

The Google TOKAY is spotted with 8GB of RAM and it is paired with Mali G715 GPU. And it runs on Android 14. The listing also shows all 8 cores, of which 4 are clocked at 1.95 GHz, 3 of them are clocked at 2.60 GHz, and 1 particular core is clocked at 3.10 GHz.

We recommend that you take these benchmarks with a grain of salt. The upcoming Tensor G4 will by no means be less powerful than the current Tensor G3, even if it is spotted on the Pixel A series devices. According to rumors, the Google Pixel 8A could be equipped with a slightly overclocked version of the Tensor G3.
