Google Pixel 9: Data de Lançamento, Vazamentos, Rumores e um Novo Pixel XL

Just before the holiday season begins, Google unveils its new Pixel lineup, which consists of two devices: the smaller sibling Google Pixel and the larger, heavyweight champion Google Pixel Pro. Similarly, in October 2023, Google presented us with the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, which are probably the best Pixels yet. Packed with new hardware and software/AI magic to rival the Apples and Samsungs of this world. This formula has always worked for Google: first coming out with a more affordable Pixel A series device and then the more powerful flagship Pixels.

However, it looks like Google has more plans for the upcoming Google Pixel 9 series this time around. The tech giant is planning to revamp this year’s Pixel, at least in terms of design and the number of smartphones Google plans to launch. If you want to know what Google is planning for the upcoming Pixel series flagships, you’ve come to the right place. In this blog, we’ll discuss everything from the updated design language for the Google Pixel 9 series to new sizes for the Google Pixel 9 Pro and a possible new Pixel 9 Pro XL. We’ll also take a look at a possible release date for the new Google Phones.

Update:The Google Pixel 9 series was launched on August 13th, 2024, and here is our

in-depth review of Pixel 9.

Google Pixel 9 e Pixel 9 Pro: Um Visual Mais Plano e Ilha de Câmera

The current flagship Google Pixel 8 and the Google Pixel 8 Pro are based on a rounder design language. They fit well in the hand, and the rounded design also looks great. However, according to leaks, it looks like Google is developing a flat design that fits the style of the current iPhones. This should make the smartphones more grippy than before and possibly a little less comfortable to use, just like the iPhone. It seems to be just like Samsung. Google is also planning to release all 3 (possible) models with flat edges.

It also looks as if the camera bar on the back is now being converted into a camera island. This is evident from the images shared by MySmartPrice X Onleaks. Unlike its predecessors, the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, the Google Pixel 9 and Google Pixel 9 Pro, and possibly the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL will house the rear camera in a revamped camera island.

According to OnLeaks, the flat frame also moves the volume rocker and power button to the right side of the smartphone. The left side of the phone remains clean but still houses the antenna lines. The SIM card tray, Type-C port, and speaker grille are located on the bottom of the phone as usual.

Google Pixel 9 Pro: Melhor, Mas Menor

It looks like the Google Pixel 9 Pro will be the phone with the most changes compared to the Pixel 8 Pro. For starters, the Pixel 9 Pro will be smaller than the Pixel 8 Pro. Since the device is smaller, it could also have a smaller battery, but there is no information about that yet. More importantly, however, we have some important information about the exact dimensions of the Google Pixel 9 Pro. According to MySmartPrice, the Google Pixel 9 Pro will measure 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5 mm. This is smaller than the dimensions of the Pixel 8 Pro. According to MySmartPrice, the Google Pixel 9 Pro will have a flat 6.2-inch display with a central cut-out that houses the selfie camera.

It looks like the Google Pixel 9 Pro will have uniform bezels on all four sides. MySmartPrice has also released an exclusive video that gives a closer look at the smartphone. Let’s take a look at it.

Google Pixel 9 Pro: Câmera Melhorada e um Novo Visual de Câmera

According to the rumors, the new Google Pixel 9 Pro will not only have a new camera island. It could also have three camera sensors, a wide-angle camera, an ultra-wide-angle camera, and an updated telephoto lens.

The larger sensors on the camera island suggest that Google could also support variable aperture, but there is no information on this yet. Google could also follow in Apple’s footsteps. It could be that Google is giving the Pixel 9 pro a less powerful or less PRO camera system since it’s a smaller phone, and saving the better camera system or at least a better telephoto lens for the next big thing or, should we say, the next XL thing.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL: O Novo Pro/XL

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL could be the ultra flagship we’ve been expecting from Google for a long time. There are no specs on this device and no confirmation on anything except for the fact that it will use the same design language as the Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro and that it will be very similar in size compared to the Google Pixel 8 Pro. According to MySmartPrice, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL will feature a 6.5-inch flat display, which is slightly smaller than last year’s flagship Google Pixel 8 Pro. As for the exact dimensions of the phone, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL will measure 162.7 x 76.6 x 8.5 mm. These dimensions are very close to those of last year’s Pixel flagship, the Google Pixel 8 Pro.

If the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL exists, it looks like Google is taking Apple’s approach of having a huge flagship with all the features and a bigger battery with slightly improved cameras. The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL could be the missing cog in Google’s machine that would allow the company to appeal to all audiences. A mid-range phone for the masses (Pixel A), two flagships for the people who want a flagship without spending too much money on an ultra-premium phone, and an ultra-flagship (the big player) for the enthusiasts.

Google Pixel 9: Novo SoC, o Tensor G4

As every year, there will also be a new SoC. The Tensor G4 is said to have better thermal management and could be more energy-efficient thanks to Samsung’s new 4nm process node. Yes! Like every year, Google is sticking with Samsung to develop the Tensor G4 for the upcoming Google Pixel. According to a report from Financial News Reports, Google and Samsung are working together on the Tensor G4 and it looks like the SoC will be based on the new FOWLP (Fan-out Wafer Level Packaging) packaging method. The result would be better thermal management and higher efficiency.

Let’s also take a look at the benchmarks of the Tensor G4. 91 Mobiles recently spotted a Google smartphone in the Geekbench 5 database. It bears the codename TOKAY. While it’s not yet confirmed to be an upcoming Pixel 9 series device, it’s very interesting to see because the scores are lower than the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Google Pixel 8.

The Google TOKAY is spotted with 8GB of RAM and it is paired with Mali G715 GPU. And it runs on Android 14. The listing also shows all 8 cores, of which 4 are clocked at 1.95 GHz, 3 of them are clocked at 2.60 GHz, and 1 particular core is clocked at 3.10 GHz.

We recommend that you take these benchmarks with a grain of salt. The upcoming Tensor G4 will by no means be less powerful than the current Tensor G3, even if it is spotted on the Pixel A series devices. According to rumors, the Google Pixel 8A could be equipped with a slightly overclocked version of the Tensor G3.

When it comes to the release date of the Google Pixel 9 series, Google tends to announce the flagships during Google I/O every year. This is when the tech giant officially unveils them in October. This year, too, the Pixel 9 series could be officially unveiled in October this year (2024). But this is all just speculation, and there is no confirmed information on pricing and release date. So, take it with a grain of salt.
